Barix Brings Cost-Effective IP Solutions for Audio Distribution and Security to PLASA 2008
ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, August 13, 2007 – Barix AG, a pioneer in IP-based audio, intercom, monitoring and control, will showcase its range of Audio over IP technology at the upcoming PLASA show taking place at Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, September 7-10 (Barix booth A43M), including a new, alternative firmware application that can be integrated into all of its hardware devices. The firmware is ideal for studio and central office applications where Barix Audio over IP hardware can be utilized as solid state players, including music on hold applications; and store and forward applications for hotels, restaurants, and retail stores. For in-store media, the Barix Audio over IP solution offers a far less expensive and more flexible solution than satellite solutions. The new firmware encompasses a simple BCL program added to Barix Exstreamer decoders and Annuncicom intercom/VoIP devices to enable a store and forward application. The store and forward application enables local playout at the destination from the Barix device, which communicates with the central server to initiate content updates over a network. Playlists can be updated to add new songs, ads and promos, with the possibility for local ad insertion when utilizing contact closures within the Barix devices. Content can also be saved to a USB stick in the Exstreamer or Annuncicom to continue local playout in the event of network downtime. Barix will also showcase products from all four product families for audio encoding (Instreamer), audio decoding (Exstreamer), intercom and voice over IP (Annuncicom) and control and automation (Barionet). All four product lines feature open-protocol Barix applications, available in source, to allow integrators and engineers to customize them for their own applications.
