The Colombo mall in Lisbon, Portugal, is one of the largest shopping malls in Europe.
The operators of Colombo wanted a reliable, centrally controlled audio distribution solution to be able to address zones, such as restaurants, the health club, etc.
With an IP-based system from Barix to deliver voice and high-quality audio, the system integrator found and presented the perfect solution to Colombo's management team. In all, the system installed supports more than 30 discrete zones for targeted audio.
A central server and local operator terminals allow system management and operation, including an at-a-glance overview. Barix Instreamer encoders produce live audio feeds for the music distribution and Exstreamer IP audio decoders feed selected channels and announcements to local audio amplifiers.
Operators can always do live paging into selectable zones or to the whole building using Annuncicom IP paging devices from Barix. Prerecorded emergency announcements can be triggered with contact closures.
