Barix and Mediatronics to Showcase Audio over IP Solutions at PALME Convention in Dubai
ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, April 22, 2008 — Barix AG, a pioneer in IP-based audio, intercom, control, and monitoring, will exhibit its complete range of reliable, cost-efficient Audio over IP devices and solutions at the forthcoming PALME 2008 show in Dubai. (April 27-29, Dubai International Exhibition Centre, Stand 6 C01.) Barix, attending for the first time, will exhibit with Mediatronics-me (Middle East), a division of Citytec LLC, Dubai; and the strategic Barix partner serving the Middle East.
Visitors to the Mediatronics stand can learn about Barix products useable for a variety of A/V and security applications. Barix will also debut its newest invention, a bi-directional, multichannel-ready, multipriority Audio over IP protocol, useable in all Barix audio devices and suitable for priority paging, intercom and background music transmission in multi-destination environments including university campuses, corporate complexes and entertainment districts.
“Barix Audio over IP technology enables a host of functionality using an IP network, eliminating the need to employ dedicated audio cabling in an end-to-end audio distribution platform,” said Norbert E. Bau, General Manager of Mediatronics-me. “This saves time and money for both the integrator and end user. Furthermore, Barix Audio over IP devices offer low power consumption and the ability to operate free of a PC network, making them intrinsically reliable and safe from viruses and crashes.”
Barix Audio over IP devices are useful in virtually any application where reliable audio transport at an affordable price point is a requirement, and the company’s devices from four distinct product families can mix and match to create a custom solution for the end user. Barix will showcase products from all four product families for audio encoding (Instreamer), audio decoding (Exstreamer), intercom and voice over IP (Annuncicom) and control and automation (Barionet). All four product lines feature open-protocol Barix applications, available in source, to allow integrators and engineers to customize them for their own applications.
Bau added that Mediatronics will enable qualified personnel who visit the company’s stand for Barix certification, allowing systems integrators and other installation professionals to provide technical and design support for future Barix installations in the Middle East. “Audio over IP technology will blossom to create cost-effective solutions for many traditional and non-traditional tasks,” said Bau.
Examples of international Barix installations include:
- PA/BGM (background music) and announcement systems for hotels, commercial buildings and multi-building campuses for both entertainment and security applications
- In-store media applications featuring point-to-multipoint distribution of private radio stations (music/advertising) from a central location to multiple stores in a retail or restaurant chain
- In-Flight Entertainment for audio distribution to airline passengers (Lufhansa Technik, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, is one example of this service)
- Classroom recording and Podcasting of student lectures at universities
- School bell automation for K-12 classrooms and campus security/paging applications in Universities
“We are pleased to partner with Mediatronics Middle East at the upcoming PALME show as we work together to introduce Barix products and technologies to new audiences in the Middle East,” said Johannes G. Rietschel, CEO and Founder of Barix AG. “Barix offers a range of inexpensive, low-power devices that are scalable to the growth of the operation and serve as a flexible platform for integration into virtually any operation requiring audio transport and delivery. These benefits work together to create an ideal solution for integrators and end users are looking to minimize costs yet install a system that they can deploy with immediate success and create a foundation for future growth.”
