In the diagram:

the PS16 is used as a PA / Paging station and also as an Intercom point (either a central 'Master' station, or a simple intercom in a peer to peer configuration)

The other Annuncicoms are used as Intercom points or door stations with remote door strike activation capability

The Exstreamer is a Paging endpoint, receiving paging messages across the IP network, either from a PS16, or from a SIP Phone. When not playing messages, the Exstreamer can be used to provide background music.
Multiple Exstreamers can be used to feed their audio directly into existing PA systems spread throughout a campus to create a unified paging solution.

The Barionet is used to monitor and control an environment and can be used to alert a Security center for instance if a panic button is pressed, or a door opens 'out of hours'. The Barionet can also be used to switch equipment using its 240V 5A output relays.
