Confidence Checking/ Remote Monitoring
Using Barix Exstreamer 1000s you can very easily implement an automated system of audio monitoring, checking that your programming is being successfully received throughout your broadcast region. Simple to set up, cost-effective and reliable.
Concept:
Install Barix Exstreamer 1000s wherever you want to monitor your transmission. The devices connect to an audio source, for example the output from a tuner, or an audio feed. This input is then monitored and the device can send network alarms in case of silence, or too high a level, over a configurable time period. The Exstreamer 1000 can also send the audio stream to a listening station, or it can be accessed like an Internet radio station. Remote control of suitable (serial controllable) Tuners is also possible.
Silence Detection and Over modulation Alarm:
The Exstreamer 1000 has 4 relay outputs which can be used to locally indicate an Error condition. In addition, the actual audio level and error states can be interrogated by the SNMP network management protocol. SNMP Traps (Alerts) can be sent in case of silence or over modulation.
Tuning in:
The Encoder can either send the encoded signal as an RTP or TCP/IP based Audio stream (MP3, uncompressed, or uLaw/aLaw VoIP compatible codecs), or it can be connected to using standard media players (winamp/iTunes etc). SIP/VoIP codecs allow „dial in“ via standard IP Phone systems, and an alarm can also automatically place a VoIP call !
Advantages:
„PC Free“, reliable, low power (8W max) hardware. AES/EBU as well as balanced Audio Interfaces. Low Cost. Maintenance free, with no moving parts. Barix equipment is field proven technology, with units installed in thousands of broadcast locations worldwide.
Affordable, reliable, universal. The BARIX Exstreamer 1000 is designed for the Broadcaster's needs: for STL, AES/EBU interfacing, Silence Detection, or Stored Audio applications: BARIX.
