Alarm Applications

Remote IP access control
No chance for unwanted visitors - Trust is good, but control is better, especially when it comes to protecting a building or sensitive infrastructure from unauthorized people. Barix knows who to let in and who to keep out.

The multifunctional Barix Defconlock is an IP access control unit with extended capabilities for remote monitoring. It controls doors, monitors access authorization and activates an alarm if required by connecting over your network or the Internet. The intelligent component can be connected to a variety of security peripherals such as badge readers, proximity devices, electronic door strikes and sensors of any kind.

This IP access control unit is able to operate autonomously in a stand-alone solution and has the ability to connect online to a server for control and configuration or to transmit status updates in time intervals and upon triggered events.

Remote facility monitoring and alarming with Barix

No one here but everything under control - The remote facility monitoring of warehouses, cold storage rooms, sensitive infrastructure or empty vacation homes is not a challenge for Barix.

With Barix technology on site, your maintenance or security personnel can be supported or even replaced. The programmable telecontroller, called Barix Barionet, monitors your property and even reacts when something goes wrong.

The Barix Barionet can be controlled by a PC and transmit system status, humidity, temperature and system data as well as other relevant information over email or optional sms at user defined time intervals. If something goes wrong the connected sensors are able to activate remote alarming over an RS-485 interface to the server. The Barionet is a remote facility monitoring device that is able to automatically inform the server if a sensor or connected device has failed.

PV (photovoltaic) system monitoring

Barix in the Tropics - The Fiji islands are blanketed by sunlight. The company Telecom Fiji Ltd. decided to take advantage of the abundant sunlight by transforming it into a usable energy source with the help of solar panels on some of the islands.

The company needed a PV system monitoring solution to monitor the status of the panels located on different islands in a very hot and humid climate.

The system retailer BP Solar together with system integrator VsatCom of New Zealand found a PV monitoring solution based on satellite communication in which Barix plays an important role. The Barix Barionet module which interfaces analog and digitally is being used on all of the installations for two very important functions. The Barionet controls and monitors the intelligent gateway communication between the battery management controller and the satellite. Furthermore, it also works as a bodyguard by initiating an alarm over satellite uplink to the central server where the data is archived and controlled through SCADA.

Remote IP Audio Monitoring

The company Broadcast Australia is Australia’s leading television and radio program provider. They have broadcasting transmitters throughout the continent, even in remote rural areas. To guarantee that the broadcast transmitters are in operational status the company uses Barix as a solution for audio transport and remote audio monitoring over IP for every single transmitter.

The Barix Instreamer continuously monitors the broadcasted audio on site to make sure that audio is being broadcasted. If a broadcast transmitter goes silent then the Instreamer automatically sends an alarm message over the Internet to the company headquarters.

The Instreamer also gives the company remote servicing ability by allowing to access a particular transmitter from the central server at any given time.
